Seven Dials

One of the most popular spots in the city of Brighton and Hove is the Seven Dials area. At the top of the hill, just north of Brighton Station. This area is ideal for commuters who want to be close to the station without missing out on great foodie options – its busy high street serves up a whole host of global and award-winning cuisines and there’s a great delicatessen, Le Gourmet, to satisfy your Saturday brunch needs! About a fifteen minute walk to the beach, it’s an easy downhill stroll!

 

The Lanes & North Laine

The Lanes and North Laine are the essence of Brighton, brimming with quirky shops, cafes, and restaurants. This is the place to be if you’re in your twenties and really want to be in the thick of it! However, as the North Laine is a hugely popular area for visitors, it gets noisy and crowded in the summer months! This area is also on the pricier side and the parking options are almost non-existent – but with everything on your doorstep, who needs a car? If you’re making the move as a family, then St Paul’s CofE Primary School and Carlton Hill Primary School are two of the top performing schools in the city and aren’t far from the North Laine.

 

Hove

Hove is Brighton’s slightly smaller, sleepier sister. Although Brighton and Hove are one city, Hove has a smaller city vibe as you head west along the seafront. With its own little high-street (George Street) Hove is close enough to the centre of Brighton that you can benefit from all of the cultural attractions, yet far enough away that you’ll miss the craziness of a Saturday night!

Key draws to the area include Church road with its many restaurants and boutique stores, the beach which is never more than a 15 minute walk away and Hove Station which provides direct routes to London. You can spend all day eating out in Hove; visit Gail’s Bakery on George Street for a tasty pastry breakfast, The Pantry for brunch or lunch and The Ginger Pig on Hove Street for dinner! If you’re got kids in primary school then there are some great schools in hove including the Bilingual Primary School in The Droveway.

 

Preston Park

Ideal for families or dog owners, the Preston Park area has plenty of greenery for you to enjoy! A little further back from the sea and with a more spacious feel, the stunning Victorian architecture and festivals held in the park during the summer months are certain to draw you in. Preston Park hosts The Pride Festival (the largest in the UK) and Brighton Marathon each year. It’s the perfect spot for joggers, with a 5k park run taking place at 9am every Saturday. Preston Park is a great place for families, with nurseries, junior schools and an academy all within walking distance.

 

Kemptown

One of Brighton’s trendiest and liveliest areas, Kemptown is a hugely popular area for the LGBTQ community – as well as a year Pride Street party, there’s also an annual Kemp Town Carnival. St James street is filled with gastro pubs, bars and restaurants, as well as tea rooms such as Metrodeco. Many of the city’s lesbian and gay pubs like the Queen’s Arms and The Malborough were established in the 19th and 20th centuries.

As you head closer to the sea-front, you can also get great views of the Marina, the Palace Pier and the beach. Developed in the 19th century by Thomas Read Kemp, you’re sure to fall in love with this little East Brighton village!
